Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard will feature stellar field including six-time champion
Six-time champion Tiger Woods, who did not defend his title in 2010, will return to the Arnold Palmer Invitational Presented by MasterCard, March 21-27 at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando, Florida.
With his commitment late Tuesday to the PGA TOUR, Woods joins a field that will also include defending champion Ernie Els, 2010 Masters winner Phil Mickelson and U.S. Open winner Graeme McDowell.
Woods won at Bay Hill the last two times he played, in 2008 and 2009, and before that he had a run of four consecutive victories, 2000 through 2003. He needs two more victories here to match Sam Snead's PGA TOUR record of eight wins in the same tournament. Snead won at Greensboro eight times from 1938 to 1965.
It was also at Bay Hill in 1991 that Woods won the USGA Junior Amateur, the first of his nine USGA national championships, a record which he shares with Bobby Jones.
"I've had some success there," Woods says, "but you need to go out and do it all over again, and they've made some changes to the golf course. I watched the (2010) tournament on TV. It looked a lot different. I have to wait and to see them in person... but a lot of guys liked them."
